IAN POOLE ARCHITECT is a boutique architecture studio based in Sydney. I engage closely with clients to understand their requirements, work with their ideas, explore alternative designs in an open and collaborative way, and search for creative excellence to produce agreed, highly detailed and technically resolved design solutions.

After nearly three decades as a director of a large architectural company, I am now the sole director of  Ian Poole Architect.

​

My experience ranges from luxury waterfront houses, to heritage conversions, multi-storey multi residential developments, and major commercial projects up to $60,000,000. This work has been recognised, winning a number of industry awards.

​

I work with a small team of CAD operators to translate design ideas into computer generated plans modelled in 3D so the design ideas can be explored and interrogated for a deeper understanding of the forms and spaces.

​

Architects are often praised for their design ideas, but criticised for their lack of attention to construction detail, execution, cost control, and management. Building is a complex process and requires close co-operation with clients, consultants, and builders.  

 

I have a thorough understanding of the complex approval procedures from dealing with consent authorities, to an intimate knowledge of the entire building process from start to finish, enabling me to produce highly detailed technical documentation that builders can understand and can build from without uncertainty and unexpected cost overruns.

This is why we don’t do quick ‘approval and flick’ type projects. We offer total commitment from start to finish in what can often be a torturous, stressful, and long process.
